About Matt O’Neill
I am a real estate agent in Charleston, SC, and I absolutely love what I do for a living. But aside from my
work life, I enjoy many of the activities Charleston has to offer. I spend time on the beach in the summer and
I am an avid golfer and fisherman (though I don’t claim to be very good at either). I am a huge sports fan,
both college and professional, and I have a love/hate relationship with the Detroit Lions. I was born and
raised in the Midwest in Southeastern Michigan and I attend college there as well. I received my bachelor’s
degree from Western Michigan University in the fields of Business Marketing & Economics.
After college I moved to Denver, CO to begin my professional career and to spend time skiing with my older
brother & his wife and their two children. I helped fulfill the needs of my clients as a business account
representative but I felt that my career was missing something. After some major soul searching on some of
the most beautiful mountain peaks of God’s creation, it came to me; I realized that my true calling was
real estate. Having family in real estate in Charleston, SC, I immediately vacationed to the lowcountry and
my life was forever changed. I fell head over heels in love with Charleston. Within three months of my
Charleston vacation, I had moved to the area, purchased a condo on James Island, and started my career in
real estate with RE/MAX Realty.
There are many reasons I believe Charleston is one of the greatest places to live in the world. Among them
are the beauty and charm of this historic city. The weather is incredible and the ocean, beaches, and
waterways enhance the quality of life for everyone. But what really makes Charleston so special are
the people who live here. It’s no accident that Charleston is annually voted the most polite city in the world. The people you meet will greet you with a smile and are quick to give you a hand. I felt right at home the moment I arrived and there is no other place in the world I would rather live.
Today, I own a home on James Island, I fish the intracoastal waterways of Folly Beach and Sullivan’s Island,
and I have a gym membership at MUSC in Downtown Charleston. Additionally, my office is located in
Mt. Pleasant, I play in a softball league on Johns Island, and I golf anywhere from Kiawah to Summerville.
Charleston is my home and I am proud to live here. I strive to give back to the Charleston community every day
through my work with the local charities, the Chamber of Commerce, and through my work as a real estate
professional with the people of this great region.
